Are Wave Pools The Future Of Surfing As An Olympic Sport?

There's been more and more talk about different designs for wave pools for surfing. Now we're starting to hear announcements of them being built around the world and that's inevitably led to talk about surfing's inclusion in the olympics. A few weeks ago, Webber Wave Pools announced that its first contracted wave pool would be built in Queensland Australia, and is slated to begin construction later this year. According to Greg Webber, the site will open in September of 2015. If this is indeed the case, it could represent a dramatic step in the right direction for wave pool surfing in future Olympic games, because it demonstrates the feasibility of constructing a wave pool in a relatively short amount of time.
