The Inside Story On D-Day Snowboards And Andrew Burns' New Pro Model

The Inside Story On D-Day Snowboards And Andrew Burns' New Pro Model

Andrew Burns is known as one of the hardest working pros out there, day in and day out. His dedication to getting shit done in the backcountry is second to none and his love of the shred has even found him spending his summers in Argentina for close to a decade now as head coach of SASS.

Although his name has long been synonymous with Capita Snowboards, a brand he's proudly repped since the beginning of time, he's recently found himself at the top of the list for a new snowboard company founded by none other than shred legend Chris Roach - and I had to get the inside story.

How's your winter been going? Were you able to keep productive through the dry spell?

My winter has been fun, feels like it only started a week ago haha! I rode A LOT of icy mountain and park until we got dumped on.

You've been with Capita for forever! How did the D-Day thing come along? Was it a hard call to make?

Yeah I was on Capita since before the first board was in a shop, it was definitely a family to me. Leaving was an extremely hard decision because of how much Capita has meant to me; the people, the team, the boards, everything. Blue and the brand have been backing me for a long time, it took me 2 months of serious thinking to make a call, but I did, and I think I made the right one. I still love Capita, we're still tight!

What is D-Day boards all about?

So Chris Roach left Santa Cruz after like 25 years to start D Day. He had apparently been following my Ship Wrecked series, and decided he wanted me as one of the few riders to be on the team. Our list is Myself, Chris Roach, Deadlung, Eric Messier, Laura Hadar, and Palmer! Despite my eternal love for Capita, this is definitely an opportunity of a lifetime, and I couldn't pass it up!

D Day is going back to the roots, skate team style! We have a small, heavy hitting team, and we all have pro models that we designed ourselves based on what we ride. Our line is pretty damn sick because of this, and definitely offers a board for any rider!

Roach is a legend! What's it like being on his team?  Have you guys got to hang out yet?

Roach... yeah legend! When we first met this winter it was tough to keep my shit together and not fan out! He's so chill, a great human, and dammmmm does he rip! Following him around at Snowbird was one hell of a treat! It's really something else to be working with legends like Chris on a new project!

Tell me about the graphic, how did it come about?

The graphic got drawn up a while a go, i love pirates and stuff so Shanna Duncan did it up for me for my Ship Wrecked series, then when I got to design a graphic it seemed like what i should use haha!

What does getting a pro model mean to you?

I never thought I would get a pro model, so its kinda the biggest thing I've gotten in my career! So hyped
