11 Years Later: Remembering Craig Kelly

The snowboard world lost it's leader eleven years ago today and we would like everyone who doesn't already know how amazing Craig Kelly was to get to know him a bit better.

Craig was a true snowboarder down to every last fiber in his body. Coming up during the 80s/90s heyday of snowboarding, he was a master of all disciplines (in those days that meant you rode pipe, raced gates, bashed moguls, etc) and was world champion for years. After quickly tiring of the competition scene, Kelly was one of the first to realize you could make a career for yourself freeriding and spent the rest of his life shredding pow in the most amazing locations ever, going on a ton of "first ever" trips to exotic places, was a true embassador of our sports while inspiring a ton of kids to live the freeride life and eventually ended up settling in Fernie in the interior of BC to quietly live out his days and become the first ACMG guide to ride a snowboard.

Alas, it was not meant to be, and on Jan 20th 2003 Craig Kelly was killed in an avalanche triggered by a group travelling above him – a huge no-no and a tradgedy that we all wish could have been avoided.

Please get to know Craig a bit through the videos below:
