Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About: Paris & Simo - The Epic DJ Duo
No strangers to the decks, Paris & Simo is a duo from Montreal formed in 2010 now having earned support from the biggest DJs in the industry such as Tiesto, Fedde Le Grand, Hardwell and many others. Easter sunday this year (April 20th) will be their first time playing at Bal en Blanc and the duo will be sharing the main stage with no other than Hardwell, NERVO and Dyro. Tickets are on sale now and you better buy yours quickly as they will go pretty fast.

We have recently had the chance to talk to the boys and here is what they had to say.

How would you define yourselves in 5 words ?
Fun guys that make beatz.

You were recognized as a duo back in 2010 though you have known each other for much longer than that?
About a year before that, right before college.

How did you guys meet and ended up working together ?
We met through a mutual friend at a sweet 16 (Paris was djing) right before college. Exchanged contacts and worked on a few projects together, and decided to form a duo. Work is always better in two!

How do you work things out as a duo? Who does what? Do you sometimes get on each other’s nerves ?
We currently work at a studio downtown, sometimes work gets down at home. We're usually arranging and finishing up tracks together. Paris usually designs the sound he's looking for and Simo writes the melodies. We're good with each other but it's normal to have a different opinions on the process of making music. We try to get the best out of each other but we compromise :).

You recently dropped the “FZ” and the “T’” of "Paris FZ & Simo T" to become "Paris & Simo". What has motivated this change ?
It was too long and forgetful, people had a hard time remembering it haha!

What keeps you going ? What stimulates your motivation the most ?
Getting positive feedback from artists like Hardwell, Tiesto, Fedde Le Grand etc. It's a great feeling when your track gets signed to a well respected label.

Any artists you would specifically want to collaborate with this upcoming year ?
We are currently working with artists that we respect a lot. We can't say too much but we'll be announcing eventually! There are so many amazing artists out there that it's hard to name particular ones but we're always open to working with whoever.

Back in 2012, you were still considered as relatively newcomers to the scene. Clearly, this has changed as you have played alongside great names and acts; how does that make you feel ? How does this affect your lifestyle ?
We're very proud and humble! I think it's just a way of saying your work is paying off BUT it doesn't mean you can settle. We're working very hard to deliver proper music for 2014, we're always aiming for higher goals and standards. We always have to be on our heels and be prepared at all times; long flights and crappy sleep hours, it's part of the job.

On the top of your head,
Simo: one thing Paris has that makes you envious of ?
 His Hair.
Paris: one thing Simo has that makes you envious of?  ....

I’ve seen in past interviews that you really enjoy playing in Vegas. How do you feel about coming back to play in the cold weather of Canada, as you recently have been to Quebec city and Ottawa ?
It's truly magical! We'd love to play there again, you're in the middle of nowhere... and to see all those people dancing and having a good time is amazing!  Our recent shows in Canada have been club plays so it's hard to compare the two, however the snow does suck....

Any thoughts and feelings about playing at the Bal en Blanc for the first time this year ? What are your expectations regarding this event ?
It's an honour to be a part of this event! Growing up in Montreal and seeing the impact this festival has on our community and culture is very inspiring. We're going to make it a special set, we can't wait!

What are your top 5 favorite tracks at the moment ?
Noxu
Five Hours
Amen (Unreleased Merk & Kremont)
Animals (Oliver Heldens remix)
Ahead of us

Where do you see yourselves 5 years from now ?
Still making and playing out our music around the world!

Any special thanks or words to your fans ?
We love every single one of them!
