Today was a qualifying day for the World Cup Downhill which is part of the International Downhill Federation and the competitors are really getting going down the insane snaking and switch-backing course on the hill down from the Whistler Sliding Center.
Day three of the Whistler Longboarding Festival was full of action and 33MAG was on site to bring you a gallery of epic photos of all the action by local photographer Josh Wilkie.
It was a wet course at the Canadian World Cup Downhill event held at the Whistler Sliding Centre providing mixed conditons. The technical winding course is hard to build speed on a dry road let alone off and on rain, making wheel choice, set up and executing smooth and well planed out lines that much more important.
In the end it was Canadian boy Patrick Switzer who came out on top. With smooth runs and clean lines, he was able to take the win comfortably from out front. This is just one of many stops for most of the competitors visiting Whistler this week for the Longboard Festival. It was very cool to see professional Racing driver for Magnus Racing and 4 time 24 hours of Daytona winner, Andy Lally take second place in the street luge proving once and for all that speed is addictive. Having just come off of multipule endurance racing tests in previous weekends, leading up to the Festival it was impressive to say the least.

In all spite the intermittant rain showers it was a great day and the wet course just played into the action.
