I pride myself on being prepared to jump on a plane with every electronic device I I could ever needing a single backpack.
Consider the electronic devices you could need on youraverage work trip or vacation. My personal list of required items is going to be one of the most diverse, you can tailor yours how you see fit.
First, I always have my portable battery Pack from HyperJuice. Check out this article to find the best battery pack for you!
Second, is a sweet little stereo system that will rock with the big boys. I know some of you will say you have seen these in several retail stores or that you have a little portable speaker that works great, but I dare you to compare them all to this resonance speaker from a company called Stellar labs.
The key to these resonance speakers is their weight and solid construction, .and For its itty bitty size, it’s pretty killer!
For a price tag at roughly $35 (depending where you purchase it) it's the best deal. You can get one on Amazon but I ordered mine from MCM.
All you do is place it on a solid surface, (like a wood desk or ideally a glass desk or nightstand) and it will turn that entire surface into a large speaker.
Third, Is the D-Link DIR-505. This is a tiny pocket Wifi router which is smaller than a tennis ball. Most hotels charge for Wifi, but not for a wired connection! Find the ethernet cable in your hotel room, (usually hidden under the desk in the room), connect it to your router, and you will get free Wifi. This pocket router also has a USB port on it to connect external hard drives or USB sticks to store those amazing GoPro shots you collected from your day of adventures. You can also install the D-Link share app and move files to/from your iOS device, as well as streaming directly from the little USB drive.
Speaking of internet, if you are going off the beaten path you should look into Mifi routers in the area. They get reception through cellular networks just like your phone. As long as you get cellular networks it in that country, you won’t pay data roaming fees, just pay-as-you-go.
Fourth, is a device called Raspberry Pi. I will be writing about this device and how to build one easily in a future article. Raspberry Pi is essentially an Apple TV on steroids, minus Netflix. I run a Plex server at home, and my little piece of Raspberry Pi will stream anything I want from home. Forget paying for the movie rentals! If you want Netflix instead you can get an AppleTV or Roku type device, both easy to setup in Netflix.
Last, but definitely not least, you need your cables. These are not devices per-se but mandatory when you have any electronics. I have only ever required 3 different cables.
You need a mini USB cable that can power most devices like your smartphones, cameras, and even the Raspberry Pi I just mentioned.
Second, you need a micro USB that has become more popular with devices and charges devices like JayBird head phones and smartphones.
Finally, you can never forget your iPhone/iPod/iPad cables. That also includes the little SD and USB readers for your iPad/iPhone to let you upload and marvel over the epic footage of the day.
All these will fit in a decent sized pencil case or even the accessory bag the GoPro sells.
Check out these devices and you will be the centre of the party (and the genius of the group!)
