Danny Davis Wins X-Games Gold With Steeziest Run In Halfpipe History – Watch It Here

The 2014 X-Games just wrapped up with men's superpipe and in a weekend of trickery that many are already questioning Danny Davis just proved you can still win a contest by being the styliest rider in a field of technical wizards.

While the rest of the field seemed to be competing to see who could fit the most double corks into their runs (answer: 4!), Davis threw down a run that started off with an insanely boned-out 360, followed by one of the largest and nicest switch methods I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing – followed by a bunch of other wickedly stylish tricks, including one double cork of his own. It was so great to watch and a really nice counterpoint to the rest of the weekend. Not to say there's anything neccesarily wrong with all the double and triple corks going down right now – it's actually quite amazing to see some of the shit these guys are able to pull with such ease – but at the same time there's an underlying growing feeling – and fear – that we are slowly inching closer to becoming aerial skiing. I know I'm not the only one feeling this way and it will be interesting to hear the conversation develop, especially with the big show coming up in two weeks.

I'm soo stoked that the judges recognized how hard a switch method of this amplitude/ style can be.

In this world of flippidy flips flops circus shit, you're an inspiration for us veterans of snowboarding. Stoked to see you taking it back to the roots of the sport with your amazing style, and passion for the sport. On behalf of all the old farts, congratulations and stay true to yourself. Snowboarding needs more Danny Davis!
