Tofino is well known for it's year round consistent surf breaks. But when the waves are small and the sun is out, most locals don't go running for their hiking boots. Tuff City Skate Park has a transitional flow to it that can mimic a 6 foot glassy day at Cox Bay. In the summer months the onshore wind picks up pretty badly by noon, hence our saying "It's always offshore at the skate park".
Although we may only have a hand full of streets in the village, the street scene here is definitely up and coming. The recent developments and renovated Campbell Street are going to open up plenty of opportunities this summer. The concrete may not be the smoothest around, but if you can get creative enough and aren't afraid of a little bit of road rash you're in for a treat.
If mini ramp is your style, keep your eyes peeled on the right side of the road while driving into town. Don't be distracted by the amazing view. If you're looking for a ramp a bit less "outdoorsy", good luck finding it. We like to keep our gems hidden from outsiders, just like the good surf breaks.
Check out this gallery of photos from around town and the next time you come to Tofino for a camping trip with the boys, don't forget to bring your skateboard!
