Shane Dorian Steps Up To Giant Wave At Belharra And Insanity Ensues!

We talked about, we waited patiently, and on January 7 it finally arrived. One of the largest swells to come out of the Atlantic Ocean hit the coast of Europe with full force and Belharra, off the coast of France offered a dementedly awesome big wave session for those willing to step up to the plate.

January 6th and 7th saw a ferocious ocean that could not be surfed at all, but it finally calmed down just a little bit, allowing Shane Dorian – one of the most talented surfers out there – to brave the colossal wave in the company of his good friend Jamie Mitchell. Belharra was firing and it was time to tame the beast! The challenge was a tall order but Shane and numerous other big-wave professional surfers were able to go out and surf some incredibly large waves.

The Billabong crew, comprised of Shane Dorian, Benjamin Sanchis and Justine Dupont, were all there and absolutely slayed it. The video featured above shows Dorian surfing not one but two giants. Hell yeah!

With Belharra now tamed (if you can call it that!) it can now be considered amongst one of the largest waves ever surfed. And Dorian is now most definitely in the running for the biggest wave surfed in 2014. Keep your eyes out!
