Nuulife Films is a Whistler-based snowboard film company that has been an the scene for a few years. Working mostly with up-and-coming sponsored riders, these guys fulfill a very important, yet often forgotten, role in the snowboard scene … helping the next generation of shred get recognized and hopefully move up the ladder. Every year their feature release is jam-packed full of amazing riding, usually edited in a pretty straight-forward manner, something we can all appreciate.
Partners in crime John Swystun and Dave Craig get it done year after year, through all the ups and downs that come with making shred flicks. No one ever said it was gonna be easy, and no one ever said you would get rich doing it but when you love something as much as these guys there's just no doubt about keeping on keeping on, ya know?
Here's a small interview and don't forget to peep the new Wildlife teaser down below. It's fucking awesome!
33MAG: Who's Nuulife? What are you guys all about?
John: Nuulife is essentially a bunch of folks trying to enjoy snowboarding and the outdoors to the best of our abilities, with all that goes along with that. Technically Dave Craig and myself direct and handle the cinematography, but there are tons of folks that help shoot and organize, and even edit and produce. We wouldn't be what we are today if it weren't for the contributions of all these people.
You've been on the scene for more than a few years now. Are things working out the way you'd like? You guys still pumped on making films?
As long as I get to snowboard, be in the mountains, and watch some great snowboarding, then I'm pretty happy. We're definitely still pumped on making films. Snowboard videos have always been an addiction, so being able to watch one come together in front of your eyes is pretty damn fulfilling.
I'm pretty sure the full flick is gonna be fast and heavy as well. We always like to display a good mix of riding and music, so there will be some good variety, some mellower tunes, and some soul shredding, but definitely be prepared for some heat.
Gotta love the Canadian flag logo at the end. You guys always gonna be repping for Canada's up and coming generation of sponsored shreds?
We'll definitely always be repping Canadian snowboarding. Sponsored and unsponsored shreds alike, good Canadian snowboarding always deserves an outlet.
When's this shit gonna drop and who should we be on the lookout for?
The movie is scheduled to drop in October. We're planning to release parts weekly starting in November, and we'll have more details soon. Be on the lookout for some amazing soul shredding and pillow destruction from Wiley Tesseo, technical backcountry progression from Craig Beaulieau and Gordon Emery, some seriously large and deep senders from Jason Gretzingers, and a bunch of friends having a good time in the mountains. Jeremy Melanson, David Kinskofer and Spencer Lundin got wild on the concrete and steel, Kael Hill does a bunch of tricks you've never heard of, and the duo of Dale Bailey and Dylan Vachon continue to show us what it means to be a Canadian rail boarder.
