Blind Skateboarder Tommy Carroll
From a European safety campaign (bebravebesafe.com) comes this wonderfully made video showcasing Tommy Carroll, an incredible kid who skates the parks and pools near his Chicago house despite the fact that he is blind!

"Anywhere I go in skateboarding all what I do is based on sound. I’m constantly using the sound of my wheels to check if there is anything in my way and get my sense of direction. For me protective gear is the difference between being absolutely terrified while skateboarding and being completely confident. I feel that I can push myself to the next level when I am protected. I can try big tricks and not worry about getting hurt. You can be really brave when you are safe."

It's a wonderful thing to watch and really makes you appreciate how lucky most of us are. My favourite quote?

"Falling is a skill you learn as much as the sport itself."

A very true statement that we can all appreciate.

Ski Resort Bingo

Ski Resort Bingo

We survived Christmas. We survived New Year's. Now we just have to push through Martin Luther King Jr. Day, BC's Family Day, an assortment of Reading Weeks and Spring Breaks, Easter… settle in, boys in girls. The short lines and non-existent crowds of November and December are gone forever, or at least until next year.

While year-round inhabitants of ski resort towns might get a little grumbly when the crowds start to roll in, no one can deny the endless entertainment that comes this time of year.

I used to work at a restaurant along Whistler's Village Stroll. The best architectural feature was definitely the panoramic windows. Combined with our proximity to a happening night club, my coworkers and I were perfectly positioned to watch dolled-up city girls teeter on their high heels in minus 20 degree weather and, if we were really lucky, bail swiftly on a patch of ice.

On one special day, my coworker Aaron came to work and proclaimed having just witnessed an individual biking through no less than three feet of snow in the midst of a storm. Such a ridiculous sight could not go unnoticed. Thus was born the concept of Ski Resort Bingo.

And now, nearly a year later, we have curated twenty four precious moments and presented them to you below. Some of these are very rare sightings; others happen on a daily basis. Some are so common that we included them only to make you feel good about yourself if happen to suck at Ski Resort Bingo. Simply gather a group of friends, print out the following image and bring it along with you as you navigate your local ski resort.
