In life, in everything we do, in all challenges faced and triumphs attempted, however grand or minute, there is an instant, a tiny fraction of time, during which hope, optimism, and giddy anticipation transform into whatever the opposite of those emotions are. Generally, if that moment arrives, which it often does, many photographers will release their trigger, lower their lens, and even start running toward their friend who may need immediate medical treatment. Not me, I keep right on clicking.
